Bab's

After a really nice visit from Rob and Barbara with some lovely food in Lugi Malones and some drinks in the Crane, we went to Crosshaven to see the  sights the next morning. Barbara was really good to let me take photos of her, she’s a really cool model.

I can’t make her real

Two of the deadlist music videos i have seen in a long time i post below. Their deadly (damn living a few weeks in Dublin has got me saying Deadly, arg) in the sense that we are brought through a journey from part one and part two and how fucking emotional and tearful would you feel after listening to them, well i feel it anyway.

Wipple

October 24, 2008 at 2:59 pm (Uncategorized)

A Wipple, i think that’s what it was the doctor called it. It’s going to be where part of the pancreas is removed, the gallbladder is removed and some other stuff like some of the intestine is removed and then what’s left of the bowel is reattached to the stomach.

I wish it was as simple as just writing it above there.

What a fucking year!

3 things

October 12, 2008 at 11:38 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , )

Since Friday three silly silly things have happened which has led me to believe that the Sandy as i know her is yay Sandyish again.

1.  I burnt my finger on a hot coal by stupidly putting my finger on it to move it as the fire had gone out and

i wanted to relight it…duh!

2. I ended up losing my car keys somewhere in my Dad or sister’s house.

3. There was another one i just can’t remember.

So anyway i left Sligo, had a great time, gigging Sandy is back, went to her first live pub gig in like it must be

years (where was i) and to start it of, it was back home in the local McGarrigles. The band Ezio were really entertaining, Scooby Doo impression was great :) Thanks to Rob for been so informative. Oh ya Rob’s latest post is deadly so go read it, the sexist and proud one.

Music memories…

September 30, 2008 at 8:02 am (Music) (, , , , , )

While on my flight to Berlin last Thursday, to pass the time i thought about all my favourite songs since i was about 13. I started to write them down. So in sight i have decided to post a few posts with those songs and perhaps add a brief description of the year, place and reasons behind the songs that have stood out in my memory and the one’s i have continued to like.

This song comes from the album “It’s a shame about ray” by the Lemonheads.

I’m starting with this song as it fits (seen as i’m just back from Berlin and thought about the song while flying there) It was the time i went to a German college in Ennis, for which i won a scholarship to attend (i was a smart ass with the German language back then). I was 16, my first time going anywhere on my own and had to spend 3 weeks at this place. I had a great time, even though it did feel like jail, as we couldn’t leave the school and could only speak German.

So anyway, one of the girls i got friendly with introduced me to the Lemonheads. I bought their album, “Its a shame about Ray”, of which i still have, actually i have the cover of it, i lost the cd :(

Another Country

September 28, 2008 at 5:09 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , )

While speanding two nights in Berlin, i ended up in this bookstore on the Friday evening and didn’t leave till about two o’clock in the early hours of Saturday morning. This is a bookshop with a difference. Imagine a house with loads of bookselves and an open door, well this is it. I have always wanted one wall in my house with shelves for books and cd’s, i haven’t got it yet but someday and sitting in this bookstore brought it back more than anything that yes, it will be something that will be happening in the future.

This bookstore was more than any bookstore. It was a bookstore you could go into and sit as you would in your own home. It was so chilled out and relaxing. I stayed and had a few beers during the evening and even ate some sushi…well sushi without the fish it had avocado in it instead.

At around 9.30pm a absolutely amazing dinner was served and eaten and i loved it, i don’t even know what the meat was but it was so herby. The carrots were cooked in orange juice…good idea, they were delicious. After dinner we had a few more drinks, decided not to watch the movie that was been shown and headed of down the road to play a few games of pool and then back to the bookshop before getting the U-Bahn back to my hostel.

Big thankyou to the host of the evening and also to Dave, Orla and Julia and everyone else whoes names i can’t remember. It was an excellent night and if i’m ever in Berlin again i will definately be checking the place out.

Another one from the weekend

September 24, 2008 at 1:56 pm (Photo) (, , , , , , , , )

Another one i love from the weekend. I even love that it’s not completely symmetrical. I’m heading off to Berlin and plan to spend most of Friday in the zoo and the Tiergarten so hopefully i’ll have some nice animal photos when i come back.
