Biffy Clyro
About two months ago a friends house mate introduced me to a band that i never heard before. Chilling out on the couch we listened to two of their albums. I was hooked. At the moment i am listening to them over and over on my new i pod shuffle. This is one of my favourite songs, it comes from their latest album Puzzle released in 2007. As well as well as having fantastic music, lyrics and voices, they hail from Scotland and have lovely Scottish accents. Some of my favourite lyrics in this song are… for reasons i decided not to share but they have meaning to me.
“I look around the grave for an escape route of old routines
There doesn’t seem to be any other way”
“I whisper empty sounds in your ear and hope that you won’t let go
Take the pieces and build them skywards”
Machines
I would dig a thousand holes to lay next to you
I would dig a thousand more if I needed to
I look around the grave for an escape route of old routines
There doesn’t seem to be any other way
Cause I’ve started falling apart I’m not savouring life
I’ve forgotten how good it could be to feel alive
Crazy as it sounds you wont feel as low as you feel right now
At least that’s what I’ve been told by everyone
I whisper empty sounds in your ear and hope that you won’t let go
Take the pieces and build them skywards
Cause I’ve started falling apart I’m not savouring life
I’ve forgotten how good it could be to feel alive
I’ve started falling apart I’m not savouring life
Take the pieces and build them skywards
I’ve forgotten how good it could be to feel alive
Take the pieces and build them skywards
I’ve started falling apart I’m not savouring life
Take the pieces and build them skywards
I’ve forgotten how good it could be to feel alive
Take the pieces and build them skywards
I’ve started falling apart I’m not savouring life
Take the pieces and build them skywards
I’ve forgotten how good it could be to feel alive
Take the pieces and build them skywards
Take the pieces and build them skywards
and
Take the pieces and build them skywards
and
Take the pieces and build them up to the sky.
Long weekend
I’ve been of work now since Friday morning, am due back tomorrow, Wednesday but instead i get to go away for the night with the team for some essential team building, some orienteering and lots of drinking.
Friday we drove up to Dublin, i was going to go out and then decided not too, two late nights in row do nothing for me. So i stayed in, shaved my legs and gave myself a little pampering.
Saturday i was on a hen night in Dublin. Well fun it was. We had dinner in Little cesars, brilliant restaurant. There was a stag party in there as well so we had a little fun. Off we went then to a pub, Flannery’s and the to Coppers. Great fun had there. I will not even begin to describe was was been done to two lads wearing kilts.
So Sunday, i needed to get alcohol out of my system, as i was doing the Cork Marathon on Monday. Out for a run i went at 10.30am with Trilo, i was like a zombie to begin with but quickly woke up when i tripped and near sprained my ankle. But it was all right. After that run, i got myself ready and myself and Ryan and Trilo went into Dublin to meet with some photobloggers around the Maritime festival.
I had a great time, unfortunately i had to separate myself from the group as it was no fun walking around crowds of people with Trilo. So we went to a park and had a relax for a while and then hung around the band area watching the world go by and eating rasher sausages. Trilo was getting loads of attention, which was great. One group kept taking photos of her.
So Monday, rise and shine bright and early to meet the lads before the marathon. What can i say about it, it was brilliant, such a buzz starting of the race, passing over to my relay partner. The best part was seeing my relay partner crossing the finish line. It was excellent. My leg of the relay was 5.2 miles of which i completed in 48.10 minutes. Overall our team finished in 4 hours and 20 minutes. How much of knackered were we afterwards, lots.
So today is Tuesday, i’m off work and i’m gonna enjoy it.
