A relaxing stroll on Fountainstown beach

March 24, 2008 at 7:31 pm (Animals, Photo, Random, Uncategorized) (, , , , , , )

Fountainstown beach in Co. Cork, not the greatest beach I have ever been to, but it is one I usually visit one or two times a week. Normally when I find myself on that very location by myself I tend to have a stroll with Trilo, take a few photos, sit down, relax and lose myself in the sights and sounds of the sea.

More often than not I usually end up chatting with other dog walkers, however on the past two occasions I’ve been at Fountainstown beach a random dog has ended up tagging along and hanging out with myself and Trilo while there.

He’s quite an adorable one, what do you think…?

Cork Marathon update

March 19, 2008 at 10:41 pm (Random, Sport) (, , , , )

…and so the decision has been made. Cork Marathon is all go. Here’s to myself, Rien, Rachel and Brian. Now all we need to do is register by the beginning of this week and away we go.

Training has started since last Thursday. I was out for two hours last Thursday (been working way too many hours since then so haven’t been out since) and i did about 9 miles, running about 6 miles of that. Tomorrow i will do an hour walk and then later in the evening just over one hour running session.

Now if anyone Fancy’s sponsoring a worthy cause… gimme the money. I volunteer with the Irish Red Cross Cork city branch and will be hounding people for sponsorship.

Update on the First Responder decision. I will be going forward in September for the exams, should i have my training up to scratch. No harm in giving it a go.

woah cheese!

Decisions decisions cont….

March 13, 2008 at 10:05 am (Random, Sport) (, , , )

The other decision to make, which really needs to be made ASAP is whether or not to do the Cork Marathon. If i do do it, it will be as part of a relay team of between two and three people, my running buddy Rien and whoever else we can rope into it. However, quite drunkenly last night i came to the conclusion of why not just do the whole feicin’ lot of it. I don’t need to run the whole 26 miles, i can walk too, OK 26 miles is way long. Perhaps the 10 miler may just be enough. I’d say i could have that run in about 90 minutes. At the moment my time is quite slow, but I’m quite happy with it. I usually do 4 miles in 37-40 minutes.

Plan of action. Go running tonight with my other running buddy Claire. Get 5 miles done.

I’m working tomorrow mad hours till Wednesday morning so Wednesday i may go walk/run a ten miler. Twill be no bother.

Decisions decisions…

March 12, 2008 at 2:02 pm (Random) (, , , , )

Well there aren’t a lot of decisions, just one at the moment which i don’t actually have to do until nearer the end of the year.

I have the option to undertake Emergency Medical First Responder training and exams nearer the end of this year, will i or won’t i. At the moment I’m doing regular training in Intermediate First Aid and other training. I attend regular duties so I’m learning all the theory in a practical way as well. My last duty at a football match a lad had a bad injury to his eye.  Learning in that was making a call to the Emergency Department. It was great i remembered the protocol to following when calling ahead so was well chuffed with that. I was also able to see that his condition was worsening and that he was going into shock and was able to treat that and get him seen quicker in the Emergency Department. It’s the small things and the actual practical on site learning and experience that make the difference.

If i keep my training up to a high standard at the moment and keep it going and feel i have the knowledge and confidence for EMFR i will do. I would really love to be an Instructor in First Aid, on top of that i love the volunteer work i do and the people i volunteer with so i would love to be able to give more of myself to that and the training.

I think I’ll leave making a decision about it for another few weeks, I am keeping a check on what knowledge is needed for EMFR and lots of extra stuff that is needed. I’ll chat to the unit officer and see what he thinks.

In the end there is no harm in giving it a go.

Will she ever settle down

March 10, 2008 at 9:13 am (Photo, Random) ()

I like to move about the place, i like things to keep changing, whether that through jobs, where i live , love etc. Well i am quite settled on the whole love front and i have settled on the home front. So where else can i have change in my life… ammm the blogsphere? Okay so, while out photo taking on Sunday i got some wordpress stickers of Donncha. This morning I’m not working, the weather is crap outside. I’m in bed relaxing, listening to the radio and changing where i blog. I much prefer the cottonsocks line anyway. So perhaps for the next hour or less i will spend playing around on wordpress and getting used to its uses.

A little photo perhaps to start of the blogging from our trip out yesterday around the Lough.
